Programs at AsheBridge

Infants

Our infant room is for babies who are at least 6 weeks old. Our primary focus with this age group is to nurture each child and surround them with love. Children learn through lots of individual attention, and developing interest in stories, music, nursery rhymes, sensory activities and games. Age appropriate fine and large motor skills, exploration, and language development are fostered.

Move up schedule: Children will move up to the toddler room as space allows, provided that your child is at least 12 months old and developmentally ready for the toddler room including: feeds self, drinks from cup, eats and drinks food from school menu, has transitioned to one nap daily, and is no longer dependent on a pacifier.

A typical day includes:

  • Parent-provided bottles and baby food on the schedule set by parents
  • Diapers and wipes provided
  • Naps as needed
  • Outdoor play (weather permitting)
  • Lots of individual attention

Toddlers

Our toddler room is for children who are at least 12 months old, drinking from a sippy or open cup, and ready to eat table food from the school menu.

The classroom and playground are designed for age appropriate development. Children learn through stories, music, nursery rhymes, sensory activities and games. Fine and large motor skills, exploration, and language development are fostered. We strive to help children learn to participate in a social group setting as well as learn to recognize various objects, colors, shapes, letters and numbers. Children play outside daily, weather permitting.

Move up schedule: Children will move up to the next classroom after their second birthday and possibly as late as the end of the summer.  Move ups are made when children are both developmentally ready and when space becomes available in a 2 year old class. Naptime pacifiers are not permitted in the next classroom and children must be drinking from an open cup.

  • Story time

4’s and 5’s Pre-K

Preparation for kindergarten (and beyond) is our objective. Our theme-based curriculum stresses pre-reading skills such as letter/sound relationships.  Early reading skills are also nurtured as many children progress to more complex phonics concepts and reading sight words towards the end of the year.  Other skills taught in this class are Social and Emotional Skills, Self-Reliance Skills, Fine and Gross Motor Skills, Math, Science, and Good Citizen Skills. Positive social skills are nurtured as children explore the classroom learning centers. Lessons are designed with an emphasis on academics as well as developing creative thinking skills and presented with the perfect balance of teacher-directed and free choice activities. Children play outside daily, weather permitting.

Move up schedule: 5 year olds remain in this class until the first full week of kindergarten, at which point they may join the school age program.

A typical day includes:

  • Nutritious lunch and two snacks provided
  • Circle time discussion of weekly theme
  • Teacher-directed learning activities (small group or individual) which promote a love of learning as well as the skills mentioned above
